P.K. Sarpong Writes; Pained Mahama Welters In A Dreamworld

The humiliating defeat suffered in the hands of the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party in the 2016 elections by former President John Dramani Mahama cannot be dispensed with, as his utterances lately have revealed.

The former President, in a speech delivered amongst party people in far away UK could no longer mask the excruciating pain seated joyously in his system.

Descending heavily on the clergy, media persons, civil society organisations and traditional leaders, the former President uncharitably labelled them as hypocrites who found everything wrong with him but cannot do same under Akufo-Addo.

Mahama finds it incredible that the media, especially, appears to have had their lips sealed even though the incompetent levels of the Akufo-Addo government is so glaringly obvious, and this doesn't seem to find favour in their eyes.

Sometimes one finds it difficult coming to terms with most of the topics the former Ghanaian leader speaks to.

While it is his inalienable right to express his views on matters which border on our governance, it is also important that he is reminded of the office he occupies as the one that must be accorded the greatest level of respect, and that it is in his own interest that he doesn't defile that office.

How can a former President throw tantrums over issues which do not bear any resemblance to the facts on the ground?

His labelling of the Akufo-Addo administration as incompetent is the most ludicrous statement to have come from him lately. He clearly has no conception of the lexical item he employed in sending his message across. He should not look far when looking for someone to exemplify incompetence. He, John Dramani Mahama is the perfect definition of incompetence.

The NPP promised to implement Free Education, and it has been done. He and his NDC left a distressed economy, the economy was in an intensive care unit, but thanks to prudent economic policies introduced by the administration, we are out of the woods. Inflation was faster than Usain Bolt when Akufo-Addo took over, but the story is different now.

Inflation is heading downhill into single digit territory. Interest rate was unbearably high, now it is at its lowest point in so many years.

The NPP promised to pay allowances of nursing and teacher trainees and this pledge has seen the light of day.

Quite a number of innovative initiatives have been introduced by the Akufo-Addo government in the arena of the automation of many state enterprises and identification cards.

Health insurance was on its knees because of government's huge indebtedness to the scheme, and this has been cleared. The list is endless if one were to itemize all of them one after the other.

What is unique about this government is that, it is less than two years into office yet these giant strides have been made.

The above picture doesn't paint the gloom or doom Mahama talks about.

Former President John Mahama should know that no one can compete with him over the incompetence tag. He has patented it. Incompetence has become his trademark, and any attempt geared towards unshackling himself from that known world of his would not see fruition.
