Our Media Houses Ought To Look Before Leaping

Our airwaves were replete with an unsavoury news item to the effect that a group of people loyal to the cause of the ruling New Patriotic Party had stormed and vandalized the offices of NADMO in the Techiman Municipality.

The media houses apodictically harped on this news item, sending shivers down the spines of many a concerned Ghanaian. The story had it that the group was members of the infamous Delta Forces. The upheaval that ensued as a result of that news item was incomprehensibly worrying.

When asked to confirm the story, Jibril Kesse, the Municipal NADMO Coordinator for the Techiman Municipality loftily and sententiously gave a detailed account of what happened. When asked if he was at the premises, this young man said he was outside the jurisdiction when the incident happened and he was called on phone and told everything.

Much to the consternation of many people who have been ardently following events on radio and television, these media outlets would not independently verify to be abreast with the actualities of the case, but went ahead, preaching doom and gloom, giving credence to the propaganda the opposition NDC has been running to town with that Ghana is no longer a safe haven under the Akufo-Addo administration.

It has emerged from investigations that on the said day or date, or any other day preceding or following it, nothing of that sort happened.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Techiman, John Donyina, has stated that nobody came to the offices of NADMO as being alleged by the Municipal NADMO Coordinator, and that NADMO is hosted by the Municipal Assembly buildings.

When further contacted, Jibril Kesse could only say that he was given a wrong information by one Regina because it appears nothing like that occurred.

Further checks to ascertain what might have precipitated this needless reportage have revealed that the gentleman who happens to be an National Democratic Congress executive, in close cahoots with the said Regina, deliberately invented the story ostensibly to fuel the misconception that Ghana is vulnerable beyond redemption under Akufo-Addo, an act that seeks to help Mahama as he moves to stage a comeback in the 2020 elections.

This evil machination by the National Democratic Congress appointee with his lieutenant Regina confirms the belief held by many Ghanaians that the appointees of John Dramani Mahama are sabotaging the current administration, making calls for their exits relevant.

Clearly, the media houses which took up the issue and claimed that Delta Forces who had stormed and vandalized the Techiman Municipal NADMO offices rushed in running riot with the story.

The NADMO Coordinator ought not to be allowed to continue managing the outfit since he has no good intentions working under the Akufo-Addo administration.
